Labeling

Each ingredient is listed on my skincare and herbals labels except pH modifiers. I use citric acid and baking soda in trace amounts. In Canada, it is not required to list details about fragrance. I can offer documentation from New Directions Aromatics about the fragrances I use. I predominantly use essential oils from plants. At times I use fragrance oils because sustainability is important to me. I’ve chosen not to list each skincare ingredient on my website, because I would rather discuss these ingredients with you in a free consultation which you may book on my contact page. I will discuss all herbal preparations with you in a private session which you may also book on my contact page.

Water

Skincare products are formulated with distilled water and preserved hydrosols.

Emulsifiers

All emulsifiers used are approved by internationally accredited Formula Botanica online school of natural skincare formulation. Many are Ecocert or Cosmos approved.

Butters and Oils

Baraka Shea Butter is my main supplier of organic, fair trade, sustainable oils and butters. The company was founded partly by Wayne Dunn from Big River, Saskatchewan. Contact me for more information about this company. Other Formula Botanica recommended suppliers include Canadian companies. The main companies are Soap and More in Calgary, Les Ames Fleurs in Quebec, and New Directions Aromatics in Ontario. They have wonderful information about their raw ingredients, and they are friendly, collaborative partners in my business.

Botanicals

Herbs are sourced from my own garden and from Nocturnus Art and Metaphysical at 304 Isabella St West in Saskatoon and Ashley Boryski in Osler, Saskatchewan. I also sustainably wildcraft some of my herbs in local non-sprayed areas and on crown land. You can purchase some of my products at Nocturnus. Please call me for inquiries about current products listed there.

Functionals, Additives, Preservatives

I check every raw ingredient I purchase to see if it is approved by Formula Botanica, school of natural skincare. If I use synthetic ingredients (nature-identical), it’s to remain true to my guarantee of sustainability. Please reach out if you have questions regarding what is acceptable to use in natural skincare formulation. With Formula Botanica, there are three categories of chemicals - natural, nature-based and nature-identical.

Natural - some mechanical processing of nature’s bounty

Nature-based - Some chemical processing of nature’s bounty

Nature-identical - a chemical equivalent of a substance found in nature

Local

I strive to source as many local materials as I can. I am careful in my preparations and follow Good Manufacturing Practice. I have my Saskatchewan Health Authority Food Safe Certificate. I have worked in a public kitchen. Everything I process occurs in my home lab dedicated to Good Manufacturing Practices and cleanliness, including disinfecting.

I am attuned to the energies of the plants I work with. What I intentionally grow and wildcraft has more of my energy. I am careful about my suppliers of raw ingredients because of the energy I feel and the energetic connection we share.
